Pro-Clerk® Troubleshooting:

From time to time we come accross issues with other hardware & software that directly affect Pro-Clerk and cannot be classified in a specific section of this website. As we discover them we will try to list them here.
  1. I am running Pro-Clerk on VISTA and cannot print.
If you see an icon on the bottom right of your screen that is called "Blocked Startup Programs" VISTA has blocked Pagescript which is the printing application portion of Pro-Clerk from running. This is because of the new security features built into VISTA. You have a few choices for remedying this situation.

    1. Turn off UAC control. This will allow Pagescript to start normally when your computer is started.
    2. Right mouse click on the icon and choose to "Run blocked program".
    3. Remove Pagescript from starting automatically and create a scheduled job to start Pagescript after your computer has started.
    4. Remove Pagescript from starting automatically and start manually before starting Pro-Clerk.

To remove Pagescript from starting automatically click on "Start Search" and type msconfig. Uncheck Pagescript from the list of startup programs under the startup tab.

  2. I am running Pro-Clerk on VISTA - Pagescript is running and I can't print
This can be caused by a corrupted print que which is a known issue which in turns causes print jobs to que up behind the corrupted job. To see if this is the case go to the Control Panel/Printers on the computer you cannot print from and double click on the printer that will not print. If you see multiple jobs not printing you have this issue. First try deleting all of the jobs by clicking on Printer and selecting Cancel All Jobs. If this does not work you may have to stop the spooler service and then delete the jobs. To do that go to the Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Services on the computer you cannot print from and find the "Print Spooler" service. Right mouse click on it and choose stop. Then try deleting the jobs. You may need to reboot in order for this to work.

If you are using a trail printer make sure it is correctly selected in the Hardware Setup of Pro-Clerk as this has been known to cause this issue.

  3. How come when I print it minimizes Pro-Clerk to the status bar?
When you use a windows only printer a lot of times it has a "Printer Status" program that pops up when you print. This window automatically minimizes Pro-Clerk. To fix this change the options in your printer settings to "not display this window."

  4. How do I get Pro-Clerk to display full screen?
    For Windows XP/98: Keys: ALT+ENTER
Action: Switches a MS DOS-based application between full-screen and windowed modes.
This has been removed in VISTA and new versions of windows.  If you are running VISTA or a new version use Alternative 2.

Alternative 1: Sometimes this doesn't work. When that happens check the CMOS to see if there are any settings that would affect this. Example: On some Toshiba's we have had to Enable LCD stretch and on some HP's we have had to enable Video Expansion. If you cannot find any settings in the CMOS to change that will allow full screen mode then it is possible your computer will not support this.

Alternative 2: If none of the above options work it's possible that the video driver on your computer does not support Command windows in full screen mode. If that is the case you have one other trick you can try.

    1. Start Pro-Clerk from menu shortcut.
    2. Once started click on the drive letter prompt in the upper left hand corner of the window.
    3. Select Properties and then choose the Font tab.  Choose "Lucinda Console".  Next Select Font Size (usually 24-24)
    4. If running Windows 11 you will need to change to legacy console mode. To do that choose the Options tab and select Use legacy console:
    5. Select OK and choose to "Save Properties for future windows with the same title".

  5. I have done a server installation on the server and it works fine. I now am doing workstation based installations on the clients and select the defaults and when I try and run the program I get an error that says "Error Base/1132 Bound error: array access"?
Solution: Check properties of the menu shortcut to Pro-Clerk and fix the working directory entry. Change it from c:\proclerk or c:\ to correct mapped drive directory e:\proclerk.

  6. I have PCMCIA network cards and they are no longer recognized.
Solution: Remember to insert your PCMCIA network card in the same slot everytime. Moving them around may require you to reinstall them.

  7. I have installed a printer and now I have another copy of the same printer installed.
Always connect the printer cable in the same USB port that you installed your printer originally.

  8. I receive the following error:
Has Encountered a Problem and Needs to Close
Solution: "click here" to see detail of what the issue is. If it is caused by an antivirus program either disable or change settings in your antivirus programs to accomodate.
